(El Cajon) – El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells has endorsed Santee Mayor Randy Voepel for the 71st Assembly District.
“Randy Voepel has been a strong ally on a number of issues that have had an impact on our entire region,” said Wells. “As Mayor, Randy has dedicated himself to showing that conservative policies work at the local level. The progress Santee has made as a result has been tremendous. I know Randy will be an effective advocate for the pro-business, limited government policies that California so desperately needs.”
Bill Wells has been the Mayor of El Cajon – the largest city in the 71st District – since 2013. He was first elected to the El Cajon City Council in 2008.
A sign of growing momentum behind Voepel, the endorsement by Wells comes just a week after Assemblymember Brian Jones announced his support for Voepel.
Originally elected to the Santee City Council in 1996, Voepel was elected Mayor in 2000. Voepel is a U.S. Navy veteran with two combat tours of duty in Vietnam. A graduate from Saint Leo University, he is a businessman in financial services specializing in corporate benefits. He and his wife Susan have two children and three grandchildren.
